Shark Research & Conservation

I sometimes take a break from studying corals, the foundation of tropical reef ecosystems, to work with the reef’s top predators: sharks! Thanks to the Shark Research & Conservation Program at the University of Miami, I help lead students and citizen scientists in exciting, hands-on shark research expeditions to educate and inspire the next generation of ocean stewards.

For me, the most rewarding part of SRC is watching students and non-scientists encounter sharks for the first time and learn about these magnificent animals.
